{December 16, 2013}   Live Tweet Experience

Mondays: the time when I watch my favorite TV drama, Once Upon a Time, as it airs its new episode. For months now I’ve been dedicating this time for the show for a reason that it wasn’t just a good show, but it allows fans to experience more than watching a great twisted show. Watching, the series and seeing the scenes in real time is a norm but having to watch it with a whole lot of people from parts of the world and sometimes with the actual cast is what makes it special. One might think that it is not possible to be watching it along with the actual cast but it is and that is why I finally found a purpose for my Twitter account. We call it Live Tweet Events.

So what is a Live Tweet?

In a regular basis, people share their thoughts and converse via Twitter. Technically, it is a sharing of thoughts about a show as it airs on TV or live internet streams. In OUAT’s case, it is the kind of networking that does not just involve the fans that are tweeting about the show, but the cast or the creators and writers being involved and followers can interact with them.

How does it work?

During its television airing, people are mostly tuned in stating their thoughts on Twitter, which usually lasts from the beginning to the end of the episode and sometimes follows through the hours with post thoughts on the show At times, the cast, will announce the schedule the time they will be “live” on Twitter. It is a queue to the fans that they are open to entertain questions, comment on a scene or anything related to the show, or just tweet with the fans as the fans do themselves. There are times that a unified hash tags are created to follow the trail of thoughts in the show and would serve as a format for participants. Normally to follow the trail, the hash tag for the show is a given or used but one of the famous hash tag used particularly in Once Upon a Time is #Ask which is used to suggest that fans are welcome to ask the cast while they are live in Twitter and the cast may answer. Usually the show suggests the hash tags to be used prior to the beginning of the episode but in my experience, a hash tag suggested by a fan and agreed upon by most participants in tweeter can be noticed and made official or permitted and can be used throughout the session.

How fun is it?

It’s quite entertaining as people are joined in real time, usually one hour or two tweeting a common thought in an understandable format. One of the common scenarios between me and my fellow fans in our area most often share our question and interpretations while the show is on a live stream. It’s like having a movie buddy at all times and on special occasions your buddy could be the cast themselves. The thought of having to know that a person can relate to your message in real time via Twitter is rewarding. At times, an answer coming from one of the cast could be a golden moment for a participant and would become a hit topic as well. At these times, Twitter has become much more interactive, rather than a normal network sharing of what you think at the moment. Beyond the show though, people had testified becoming close friends because of these sessions. Personally I’ve experience a live tweet that woke me up all day as the session between me and tweeter people lasted even after the show was done. Season 3 kicked off with a bang as most of the cast went live on Twitter and it felt like a Twitter party. Fans “cry” together in one scene and find a common comedic point at another, get mad at a certain thing together, trend a certain hash tag used in the event, be surprised at the same time and the conversation could go on.

Live Tweeting is a new way to be a couch potato as one can enjoy the show on their own, and one can enjoy sharing thoughts on Twitter, but to enjoy the moments together in a Live Tweet event is a great experience.

{December 14, 2012}   TOO SHY OR TOO MANY MOVIES

Ever wonder why it was easier to say hi to a stranger than to the one person you dream off? Is it because because you’re just too shy? Or is it because of too much movies you watch?

{December 2, 2012}   Love is…

I have drafted a few sentences in an effort to write a book book about it. I’ve thought about a Facebook page, even tried to do a song about it but it would seem that these things does not work for me. My goal would seem impossible as there was no way to do it. Love is…is a new category in my blog where you can read how I, Ladyxkerrigan, see the world in terms of Love as I question, get answers, do something about it, read it, watch about it, discover it, catch something interesting about it and continue my life living it. Do be reminded though that this is not an expert page or advise column page but if you do have questions about love, you might discover that you are not the only one who went suddenly clueless about it and perhaps we may discover the closest advise suitable to a certain problem but it still depend on your own interpretation. You are still the driver of your own lives. I am just an aspiring writer and simple adventurer. My goal was not to answer the title and the problems but to venture in the world of love and share the experience how one can discover Love through the eyes of yours truly ~ Ladyxkerrigan.

I’ve just began browsing again the blog site and found this feminine theme called “Girl in Green”. While green is not my favorite color, the girl on the top right corner is appropriate, to inspire me to adapt the life I have challenged myself with, after the life changing decision I’ve made during my visit to Palawan. And so I chose to change my theme to from the usual black colored ones to this new awakening color. More vibrant than my usual preference, the green color symbolizes life and personally for me, beginnings. The girl, barely a woman who proudly wears a black hair, symbolizes that I am a girl, barely a woman and though more willing to accept the changes in my life, remains loyal to my mysterious roots. I haven’t posted any new blogs yet since Palawan, in which I should be able to work on the next few days…too much delayed but still worth the tell.

{September 11, 2011}   Little “pick me up” moment…

My eyes are still swollen. Its not an allergic reaction to vodka, but yes, I stayed in my bed, cried and found myself plunging to the almost deep depression. “Almost” since it was way too quick for me to stand up and realize what the problem was this time. The back of my head had started to console me and literally, this time, I heard them. It may sound psychotic for most people who don’t “talk” to themselves but it’s not. I think it was a way for me to balance myself without the help of other people. I’ve been trying to talk and complain for an entire week to other people but sometimes people does not give you the right answer at the right time. No one is an expert at everything and all I wanted was to someone to know. I was determined that the solution would still come from me. And so there I was, crying over the problem but it felt good after a while. It felt like I needed to spill the excess regardless. I was thinking of what was and what would be as every person should do once in a while. And yes as sad as it is, I found myself crying because of my failures, people whom I feel betrayed me and yes the depression kicks in due to dreams not being met. And so I cried like a baby  and allowed myself to feel the weakness and helplessness kick in and so that my other selves – the strong characteristics that people tell me they see as “me”…would pick me up quickly and chain the weaker side of me and move on with life.

Setting up my new goals I now now that I wanted to make things right but I needed the new environment. A new vase will never be the same once it is broken. No matter how much you glue it together, the base will always have a thin crack and becomes more fragile than it was when it was good and new. Much like a fault line which moves on its own, disastrous and yet it continues to move on its own. A normal person would think about these things thoroughly as they are programmed to do. But I just stood up for the first time and went about the usual business. It was like not trying to glue the vase back together or not mourn too much how destroyed my world was when the fault line moved.  Its time to leave the past behind and move on. I have been brought up with the ideology of looking back to my past yet it had not worked for me. This time I am certain that I have to create my own ideology and find it starting a new. And yes…its time I start anew…

{September 5, 2011}   Reflected in ink…

So I’ve had this tattoo place at my back for quite some time now and I just realized that I have not talked about it in site (meaning basically at every website i’ve been to fb,multiply, here…etc). Well here is the original idea of my tattoo…yup it looks like a bird but it is a phoenix…well the fiery wings would suggest it…but i know a phoenix when I see one.  I’ve been a fan of it since the 90’s x-men phoenix saga was shown on our television. I personally like the idea of the phoenix. Mythical bird that burns itself and rises again from the ashes.  So when I decided that I would proceed with the tattoo thing, I already know what I would put.  Some people would be fascinated with the beauty of this mysterious bird but there are more to it that just a beautiful creature… well that adds up to its characteristics. According to research this bird symbolizes rebirth or resurrection. Legend would explain that this creature would burn itself upon its death and would rise again from its own ashes. One more striking symbolism of the phoenix is that Chinese traditions would and only would represent the empress as much as Dragons are represented by emperors. It is the creature that represents the yang which is the feminine side.  Another factor why I have chosen this one is my love for history. Well I am in love with gadgets and machinery but I’ve always wanted to read about history. One should also take a time in their life to look back to history and learn from it as eventually generation that would spring from us would do the same. This is also what this symbol signifies – a cycle. Change is inevitable but is not always a bad thing – this is the idea that comes into my mind when I decided to go through with it.  I grew up in a traditional family and yes my profession would not allow it, so basically if I am still at the age when I was too conservative, I would automatically dismiss the idea of torturing my skin with drawings. But then this is why I had to choose the design correctly. For a person who is not too big in changes, this marked (literally) the change in my perspectives and the ideology that change will come to me and I am more willing to accept it. Well change in myself also represents this but since this would remain in my back, it always remind me what it stands for. This also strengthen my beliefs about death. Well this bird as much as a symbol of birth should undergo death before starting the cycle. Death is one sensitive issue for me but as part of the living death should not be taboo as well.  I have always been fascinated with the ideology of reincarnation so this one is a perfect symbol for that as well.

Well ideology wise it was what I thought but somethings are hard to explain unless you experience it…with all honestly two hours of bearing the pain of having this put right through the skin, is one fulfilling experience for me as simple as it may seem. At that time that I was struggling with myself and this is one of the craziest idea (considering I am conservative female) that I have ever done. But embracing the meaning of this symbol fixed my beliefs and one has to strengthen what they believe in so as to move on with their lives.

Some points when choosing the design on the tattoo and if you want to have one:

first picture of my tattoo after it is done

Well of course, you should decide well if ever you really want to pursue with it because it is inked to your skin for a very long time unless you want to remove it which is more costly and would end up as an eye sore on that skin area. Also note if you have any allergies with ink since it is advisable that you should not take the risk into doing this – henna would do for you if that is the case. Take your time in choosing what you want as a tattoo may it be names, symbols or just a dot. Things has a lot of meanings. If your a reflective person, better research first on what you will put. If your an artistic person who just want to ink yourself no need to do this but it was much more fun to explain what it means to you in case someone asks. Talk to someone who have had a tattoo and lived through the experience so you would understand the essence of it and of course some tips on where and who to go to.  Canvass on tattoo parlors and artists. Designs costs depending on its size, details, and of course the professional fee of the artist. And if it is your first time, talking to someone whom you know who can recommend a good artist or if you are thrifty, for a good price, is essential so you won’t feel you’ve been ripped off best of all some of them can give discounts.  Set an appointment at least days before the actual sessions. It is advisable to take a look at what the place look like hygienically speaking, and what are the equipment available to you. Talking to your artist before you sit in the room is also important  since the tattoo sessions may take up time and may not be enough for a day.  My design took up two hours, considering it is a simple one.   It is also important that the tattoo artist know exactly what you want.  Its not good that you put something in yourself that you would regret. Again this stays with you for a long time. You can ask if they have pictures of their previous designs so as to adjust to your taste.   During this time, you can also explain to the artist what you want to do with the tattoo or if you have any specifications.  Notice that the tail of my phoenix was removed  since it is taking too much space for a small tattoo and I wanted it to be small.  Also at this point you can discuss about stuff such as allergies or clear out questions on what type of ink is to be used. If after discussing these things and still you want to go with it  then let the needles punch you at 100 times a minute and enjoy.

After care:

Any bodily piercings are considered a wound. No matter how small it is like ear piercings or as big as a portrait tattoo, it is still a wound. You have a lot of time during your tattoo sessions so it is one of the topics you can discuss with your tattoo artist rather than sleeping since in reality you can’t really do this. Taking care of it is as important as deciding to eat or not. One important consideration in this is that you should prevent it from getting infected.  Wound infection is one of the worst thing that could happen after getting a tattoo.  Also ask of the type of lotion or creams that they would recommend to you or if their parlor is selling the same product since you need to take care of it as soon as you get out of the parlor. Also if you miss out taking to your artist due to the fact that you can’t really utter anything than the words “ouch”, then you can research. A lot of sites discuss this, just don’t let it heal on its own without you taking care of it.  Healing takes about two weeks or more depending on skin type. The most important thing is that you take care of it as you would take care of yourself. Tattoo is an expression of who and what you are. May it be full of meaning as my personal experience or as I have said an artistic characteristic, it is a reflection of the person bearing that image.
